Can I work on a Student Visa in Australia? Many students ask this question and the short answer is yes.
As an international student, you are allowed to work in Australia part-time as soon as your Student Visa is granted and your course has commenced. When your course is in session, you can work up to 40 hours/fortnight. During the holidays you are allowed to work unrestricted hours. Most of our courses offer 16 weeks of holidays per year and some courses (especially in hospitality) also offer work placement as part of the studies which allows their students to work more.
Australian Government has removed the 40-hour-a-fortnight working restriction for Student Visa holders. Therefore, international students can now work full-time in Australia and have no restrictions on the number of hours they can work. If you are on a Student Visa in Australia, you can work as much as if you were Australian.
